The Ghana Cedi opened the week slightly weaker against the US dollar, with official interbank rates from the Bank of Ghana showing a marginal depreciation on Monday, October 26. The currency was buying at GH₵11.6442 and selling at GH₵11.6558 to the dollar. On Friday, October 23, it had traded at GH₵11.5992 on the buying side and GH₵11.6108 on the selling side. Despite the latest movement, Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama said the wider economic outlook remained positive. Speaking at the launch of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) 2025 Annual Investment Report, Dr. Asiama pointed to the Cedi’s broader recovery against major international currencies. He attributed that performance to strong external reserves and continued activity across key areas of the economy. “These developments have contributed to creating a more stable and predictable environment for businesses and investors,” Dr. Asiama said. He added that Ghana’s economic growth had become increasingly broad-based, supported by improvements in agriculture and services as well as a sustained recovery in industry. The Bank of Ghana expects the country’s underlying economic conditions and rising foreign reserves to continue supporting the Cedi over the coming quarters.
