ICT growth surges to 30.9% in Q2 2026, leading economic expansion

Ghana’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector recorded a 30.9% growth in the second quarter of 2026, emerging as the strongest driver of the economy’s performance during the period.

The latest figures from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) presented by Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, show that ICT was the largest contributor to the quarter’s economic growth, accounting for 41.5% of total growth.

Overall, Ghana’s economy grew by 6.0% in Q2 2026, bringing growth for the first half of the year to 6.2%.

The services sector recorded an 8.0% growth, generating 57.6% of total GDP growth, while industry expanded by 4.3%. Investment also recorded strong growth of 53.0% during the quarter.

Dr. Iddrisu said the figures demonstrated the increasing importance of ICT and digital activities to Ghana’s economic growth.

The data, however, showed uneven performance across sectors, with agriculture growing by only 3.9%.
